  1. Thank you for the template. But i am experiencing some issues for paperback. Here is the message i got from amazon “Your file contains insufficient bleed. See examples PDF page(s) 39.
    1. Ensure the page(s) are sized correctly for bleed. Interiors with bleed should have 0.125″ (3.2 mm) added to the width and 0.25″ (6.4 mm) to the page height.

    2. If the pages are already sized for bleed, make sure you extend any images and backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page at least 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents white gaps along the outside edge(s) when the file is trimmed to size.

    3. If there is content that is not intended to bleed, please ensure it stops within the margins, 0.375” (9.5 mm) or more from any outside edge of the page.

    • I understand your concern! This template has already in bleed size as per kdp requirements (6.12 x 9.25). If you’re still getting this bleed error from Amazon then open your PDF and check its size, the trim size of your pdf must be 6.12 x 9.25. If your pdf is not showing this trim size then your pdf was not created properly. Try using some different pdf converter to convert this template into pdf. You can use Ms Word’s built-in “Save As” option to convert into pdf.

If the issue still persists then you can send me the screenshot of the error or your actual pdf on this id: admin@usedtotech.com. Will be trying my best to fix it, so that your book can be printed. Thank you.

      • Thank you for your quick response. This issue has been causing me a lot of stress. When I checked the document properties of the PDF, here is the information I found: “Advanced
        PDF producer:
        Microsoft® Word 2016
        PDF version:
        Not available
        Location:
        C:/Users/X240/Documents/Amazon kindle/The Ultimate.pdf
        Page count:
        78
        Page size:

        • Yes, exactly, this is the reason why Amazon was throwing an error! The page size in your pdf is totally different. The simple fix is that you need to create a custom paper size in your Windows. To create a custom paper, please follow these steps (for Windows):

Open Print Management > right click on Forms > then click on Manage Forms… > check on Create a New Form > enter dimensions in paper size > Width: 6.12 > Height > 9.25 > write name in Form name: > then click Save Form.

This way, your custom paper size has been created. Now open your Word template and convert it into PDF through Word built-in “Save As” option. Then check the size in your newly created PDF, it should be 6.12 x 9.25. Check your complete pdf and then submit it to Amazon, it will not cause any issues then. Hope it helps. Thank you.

          • If you have Adobe PDF printer available then creating a pdf from a Word doc with custom paper size is quite easy. The steps are:

Open your Word doc > press CTRL+P to open Print Options > Select Adobe PDF from Printer > click on Printer Properties > Select Adobe PDF Settings > click on Add under Adobe PDF Page Size > Enter Width 6.12 and Height 9.25 > Give any name to this paper > click on Add/Modify > click OK to close Printer Properties > Now click on the Print button > It will convert your Word template into a PDF.

This is another method to create a pdf with custom paper. The point is that Windows doesn’t have premade 6.12 x 9.25 paper size available. You will have to first create this paper size in Windows. Then you can create your pdfs using this size. You can follow any of these two methods for creating custom paper size. Thank you.

          • Thank you so much! However, I’m having trouble locating the Print Management feature. I clicked the Windows button, searched for it, and opened it, but all I found were different folders. I right-clicked on each one, but I couldn’t find “Forms.” Could it be that I’m looking in the wrong place for the Print Management you’re referring to?

          • Open Control Panel in Windows then open Administrative Tools. You will find Print Management there (under Administrative Tools). Following is the location: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools

  2. Please one more thing, while trying different methods to fix the issue, I made some changes to the margin and paper settings. As a result, the colored box containing the chapter numbers has shifted from its original position, and now I’m having trouble getting it back to where it should be

    Reply
    • No need to change any settings in the margins as these have already set and optimized for printing. However, if you have already changed the settings then I would suggest you to please first create a custom paper for 6.12 x 9.25 size (following the steps in my previous comment). Then transfer your formatted content into the original template, this way you will have proper settings for everything.

    • Hello, it me again. I created a new form, but it didn’t resolve the issue. Whenever I save the Word document for this template, the colored box with the chapter numbers shifts from its original position. I’m trying to save the document and use an online converter, hoping that the size will remain intact

      • If you have correctly created a paper size then it should work now. Download the original template from our website and try converting it into PDF and see if it’s properly convert into PDF or not. If you can convert the original template into pdf perfectly then there is something wrong in your Word doc, you may have some settings changed in your doc and those may be causing issues.

  3. It’s a bit complicated. I converted the document template I downloaded from here and opened it directly in Firefox. After downloading, it showed a size of 6.12 by 9.25 inches. But when I opened it directly from my PC, which usually opens through Internet Explorer, it still shows ‘Page size: 8.17 Ă— 12.33 in (portrait).’ I think I’ll use another template, though I really love this one.

    • I know it gets frustrating at times but this is not as complicated! Please remember if you’re using any template like 5×8, etc. just make sure when you convert the Word doc into pdf then the generated pdf should be of same size (i.e., 5×8). If you don’t have a 5×8 paper size available in your computer then the chances are your pdf will not be generated properly. So make sure you have the custom paper size available, if not then you can try the following steps:

      1. Try converting a Word doc using Save As option in Ms Word.
      2. Try using Adobe PDF Printer as it allows converting pdf with custom page size.
      3. If either of the above options don’t work then try any other pdf converter which can accept custom paper size and convert Word doc into pdf with proper paper size.
      4. If you still face any issues then you can create your own paper size in Windows using Print Management. This will definitely fix your issue, allowing you to create a pdf with custom page size.

  4. Thank you. I’ve downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader, and it’s displaying the correct dimensions, ‘6.12 by 9.25.’ However, I always encounter an error when I upload the bleed template to Amazon. I’ll send the book to your email—maybe you could help me check it. Thanks!
