  1. I like the format (fonts, design) of the word 6×9 KDP template but I would like it in 5.5×8.5. Would it work okay if I just change the paper size? Thank you very much for the awesome site

    • Yes, you can change the paper size but it requires manual adjustment of the formatting because Ms Word does not have any option for auto adjustment of layout. Instead of changing the page size please try our other 5.5 x 8.5 templates, they should work for you, thank you.

  2. In the document, it says for personal use only. I work for a publishing company, and we are interested in using this format as one of our ready-to-go formats. Is it possible to use it, or can we buy it from you?

    • Yes, you’re allowed to use this template commercially as long as you give us credits in the form of including our brand name & web address anywhere in the printed book. You can include the following line in your final work (preferably on the front or back cover):

    • This is a straightforward template which you can use to prepare a professional-looking book. Unfortunately, we currently don’t have any such tutorial! However, all our templates are super easy to use, so if you know how to use Ms Word then you can easily edit the entire template. Moreover, we would also try to make a small screencast showing the steps for editing the template. Thank you.

  3. Muhammad,
I submitted this template to my printer with my next book within and the tech personnel came back to me saying they don’t work with Quark files.
I wrote the book in MS Word within the template and then converted it to PDF and gave it to them. I am almost positive that this template once converted from MSWord to PDF has nothing to do with Quark (I think that is really old technology). Correct me if I am wrong.
Perhaps the printer tech is confused?
Thanks, and I have given https://usedtotech.com credit in the book.
    Sincerely,

    • Hi Grady,

Thanks for using the template, really happy to know you found the template useful! You’re right, final converted PDF has nothing to do with the QuarkXPress. Please ask your printing company for any of their specific specifications for printing the book such as what margins they require, any particular settings for the gutter size or if there is any issue with the page size, etc.

PDF is normally a industry standard for submitting books for printing. However, different printers have their own standards like Amazon KDP and IngramSpark have some specific guidelines available for preparing manuscript & printing it through their printer. Having said that, it would be really good if your printing company let you know exactly about what issue they are seeing in your PDF? Please ask them if they want any modifications in the book format. When they confirm the settings, you can then modify the template (or your already formatted book) to their specifications and try resubmitting the book.

In case of any other query, I’ll be here to help you. Thanks again.

  4. Why can’t I change the template’s name? I enabled editing, but a save as doesn’t work. I am copying and pasting material from a Word document to fit the 6×9 format.

    Thanks.
